Genia began her journey with Communities In Schools of Federal Way-Highline in 2020, as a volunteer encouraging student engagement and retention at Decatur High School. In 2021, Genia officially joined our team filling the position Re-Engagement Coordinator at Decatur High School for the 2021-2022 school year. Genia has since transitioned into the role of School Outreach Coordinator at Decatur to further her support her Decatur Gators. As a former teacher and Childcare Supervisor, Genia has a long-standing history working closely with youth. Genia strives to teach students the depth of their potential and the value of their self-worth. She truly believes that this work is her calling in life. Fueled by her passion Genia is steadfast living by mottos like, no child left behind and it takes a village. No matter what the circumstance she wants to show up for the kids. In her free time, Genia enjoys cooking and spending time with her grandkids and family.
