Genesis, a senior at Todd Beamer High School is celebrating her achievement, overcoming barriers to reach graduation with her class. When our School Outreach Coordinator, Cierra Gamble, started working with Genesis, she was behind in credits and at risk of not graduating. Cierra and Genesis set out on this journey together two years ago.
Over the past two years Cierra has supported Genesis working towards regaining the necessary credits she would need to graduate with her class. Not only did they work together on making sure she was in the necessary classes, they also worked on some of Genesis’ soft skills improving her confidence for self advocacy. This allowed her to better navigate her classes and speak up with her teachers and administrators to ensure she was on track for graduation.
Genesis is now more motivated than ever and ready to take on new challenges after graduation. Her current plan includes attending a 4 year university, majoring in pre-law. Genesis has aspirations to become a lawyer for immigrants after law school. Cierra is so incredibly proud of her student and can’t wait to see the positive impact she will have in the world.
